Brooklyn Bridge Brooklyn, NY HDR

•December 1, 2010 • 1 Comment

I took a little trip up to Brooklyn, NY and found a few minutes to eat at Grimaldi’s pizza(the best ever) and take a few shots.  I’ve always wanted to shoot this bridge even though it’s been done by a billion photographers.  However, I think I got a great shot and can call it my own.  I hope you like it.  All photos are for sale unless otherwise noted.  Thanks for looking at my page and you can contact me at KenBlochPhotography@Gmail.com

Payne Stewart Statue, 18th Hole Pinehurst #2

•October 25, 2010 • 1 Comment
I was in Pinehurst for a wedding not too long ago and squeezed in a round before all the good times started.  I did not get to play Pinehurst #2 but before leaving the grounds, I made sure I saw the Payne Stewart statue that sits just off the 18th hole.  I was there in ’99 for the US. OPEN for every round and watched closely as Payne closed the tournament with a miraculous 20 ft putt for par.  The statue captures his famous pose after the putt dropped, it gave me chills just looking at it.  The detail, the expression on the face is as realistic as it gets.  If you are in Pinehurst, come by and see for yourself.

Jamaica in HDR…Ya Mon.

•June 26, 2010 • 1 Comment

Lots of relaxin’ and time by the pool, a Jamaican vacation well spent.   I did manage to put the frozen girlie drinks down for a few and take a few shots.  Enjoy!  KenBlochPhotography@Gmail.com

We decided to take a “shopping excursion” in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  The bus was late….”no problem!”   We heard a speech from our bus driver about buying Jamaican goods and keeping the money in the Jamaican community, and how Indians and Chinese don’t pay taxes in Jamaica  and send the money back to their homeland….then drove us directly to an Indian owned gift store.  We ended the trip at a glorified shanty yard sale.  This particular woman wouldn’t leave me alone and she made me look at her shop.  I couldn’t wait to get out of there.  I was afraid a the flies were going to make my nostrils their new home.

More of the garage sale…I mean gift store.

This is the view we had from our deck.  Good good times.

and here’s a couple of nice sunsets that the lovely assistant and I took advantage of.

Guitar Heaven in HDR, 1959 Gibson Les Paul…the Holy Grail!

•June 15, 2010 • Leave a Comment

I have a friend who is a guitar collector, and  has one of the coolest collections of all time.  He has the Holy Grail of guitars, the 1959 Gibson Les Paul Sunburst.  It is in perfect condition, all original and just plain badass.  I was fortunate enough to take a few shots of it as well as some other great guitars.  The shoot was very informal, just a few quick snaps but we are going to do a major shoot of the collection coming up soon.  Stay tuned…so click on the picture and prepare to drool.  Enjoy!  As always, my email is www.KenBlochPhotography@Gmail.com

From front to back:  1959 Gibson Les Paul, 1964 Gibson Es-330, Gibson Les Paul Prototype given to Les Paul himself at NAMM a few years ago.  The guest stars that played with him at the Iridium Jazz club would play this LP or a brown LP Studio.  This prototype has pickups wound by Les Paul himself.  Top that!

Duke University HDR Photos, Durham, NC

Took a little trip to Durham and got a few shots of the gorgeous Duke University campus.  The place is amazing and was easy to shoot.  I ran into a student and we talked for a few minutes and he was nice enough to point me in the directions I needed to go.  If you’re the kid who helped me out, many thanks(also, email me).  To my amazement, Cameron Indoor Stadium was open and I got a few cool ones.  I hope you like ’em.  If you do email me at KenBlochPhotography@Gmail.com

Now on to the gorgeous Duke Chapel….

UNC Campus HDR Part II

•May 19, 2010 • 2 Comments

Due to me dropping my external harddrive and losing just about all my photos I wanted to post here, I’m going to post more UNC campus shots.  I took these on my last trip up to UNC and discovered parts of campus I had not seen before.  There will be more to follow so don’t be a stranger.  As always you can contact me at KenBlochPhotography@Gmail.com for pricing and availability.  On to the shots!

I was looking to cut through the Quad and get back to my hotel when I decided to take a stroll through the Gardens.  It was very early, and there wasn’t a soul around.  I found this to be one of the most peaceful places I’d been in some time.   Click the photo!

This next photo is of the Bell Tower.  I shot this one at a few different angles and I have a couple more that I will post at a later date, probably when my drop my new harddrive and break that one too.  Enjoy!

Morehead Planetarium SunDial, UNC Chapel Hill 5 Shot HDR

Here is another from the Campus at Chapel Hill.   This is the Sundial at the Morehead Planetarium.   I had no idea it was there, and I must say it was a welcome surprise.   As you can see on the sundial, it was freakin’ early in the morning.  Click the Photo to see it in all its glory.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC HDR “The Old Well”

•April 6, 2010 • 1 Comment

UNC fans and alumni are smarting today because of Duke’s win last night.  Hopefully this will cheer them up.  This is 3 shot HDR of the famous Old Well on campus.  The lovely assistant and I were walking back from the Bell Tower and thought this might make a good shot.  So far it’s gotten good reaction from the Alums that I know.  I was talking to an alum the other night and he said he asked his wife to marry him at the Well and I can only imagine how many others did the same.  It’s a very cool spot.

I will be back in Chapel Hill in the next few weeks and plan to shoot more of the absolutely gorgeous campus they have there.   If you haven’t been there, it’s a fantastic place…even if you are not a fan of the school.  It’s how a campus should look like.   As always, all photos are for sale unless otherwise noted.  My email is KenBlochPhotography@Gmail.com if you are interested in a print of this or any other shot, let me know!

Photography…family style

I was taking some pictures of my brand spankin’ new nephew on Christmas and was putting my camera away when I saw this:

This is My brother, my nephew and Sister In Law.   This is by far my favorite shot of them.  I only took two pictures of this as I was putting away my camera, and in a split second it was over.   It really captures the personalities of all of them.   I think the best photographs are those moments that go by in a flash, you either  get it or it dissapears in time forever.  Its our job to make sure the truly great images are not forgotten.  Like this one.
